First APPAct partner meeting

Poland, Ireland, Germany, France, Lithuania and Romania

The APPAct team has just kicked off the project with our first partner meeting. We brought together colleagues from Poland, Ireland, Germany, France, Lithuania and Romania to get to know each other better, agree on next steps and start planning how we will work together to support national physical activity policies through collaborative training and mutual learning.

“As project coordinator, I am really happy to see our international APPAct team starting this new adventure together,” says Prof. Joanna Żukowska. “With the APPAct project we want to create fresh, practical training offers, share ideas across countries and make it easier for universities and policy-makers to work together on physical activity. These cross-sector, interdisciplinary projects really matter, because they bring research, practice and policy around one table and can make a real difference for more active, healthier communities across Europe.”

The APPAct project brings together experts from public health, transport and urban planning, sport sciences, education and social sciences to look at physical activity policy from many different angles and sectors. Partners work closely with local and national authorities, public health institutes, NGOs and community organisations to co-design learning activities that reflect real policy challenges and everyday practice. The project team will jointly develop teaching modules, case studies and project-based learning formats that show how urban design, mobility systems, school and university settings, health promotion and social inclusion policies can all support more active lifestyles. By combining academic, policy and practice perspectives, APPAct aims to strengthen the skills of future professionals and to build long-term collaboration between universities, administrations and civil society around physical activity.
